Outreach Ministry
The Outreach Ministry is the voice of our church for contact with the surrounding community. We work to increase awareness of the many good things going on at SFPC - projects which help our community and help our congregation to be active and to grow.
Members of this ministry maintain the church website and Facebook pages and provide articles and photos of church events for local publications. We contact church visitors who are interested to answer questions they might have and offer membership in our church.
Outreach supports a variety of projects such as Mothers of Pre-Schoolers (MOPS), the mentor program at Dixon Elementary School, and the Adopt-a- Highway program which covers Highway 210 right outside our doors. Also in this Ministry is our Patchwork Squares Quilting Group, whose members sew handmade quilts for the children who live at the Barium Springs Home in western North Carolina. Other seasonal projects include our Christmas Comfort Baskets and the collection of Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes.
Finally, the Outreach Ministry lends financial support to a Presbyterian Missionary Family in Zambia (see latest update below) and encourages contributions to mission causes and disaster assistance.
The Outreach Ministry is co-chaired by Ann Blackmon and Alan Parent . If you'd like more information or would like to join this ministry team, please contact us and either Ann or Alan will reach out to you very soon!
CHERYL BARNES’ MISSION WORK IN ZAMBIA, ZIMBABWE, AND MALAWI
Update from our supported Missionary, Spring 2023, “Divine Possibilities”. See Cheryl’s latest “Mission Connections” letter here. It is truly an interesting letter about needs at the Chimwala Primary School being met by individuals and congregations unselfishly stepping up to build a shelter to serve as a classroom, to plant tree seedlings, and to erect a security fence.
